Quadrulus membranelle (4 rows of cilia) in the buccal cavity.
Microtubules of the axonemes of the cilia and the triplet fibers of
the basal bodies are labeled. Ribbons of microtubules arise from the
side of the quadrulus (arrows) next to the cytopharynx and
single microtubules (mt) are liberally scattered about in this
zone. The “sperm-shaped” structures (arrowheads) are early
endosomes with clathrin coated pits forming the “heads”. EM taken on
7/5/96 by R. Allen with Zeiss 10A TEM. Neg. 9,780X. Bar = 0.5 µm.
