Dividing micronucleus of P. caudatum. Division occurs within
an intact nuclear envelope (ne). Microtubules (mt) form
a spindle shaped nucleus and chromatin material condenses into
chromosomes. This nucleus appears to be in metaphase or anaphase (see
figure 5a). The macronucleus (mac) lies nearby and although it
did not show signs of division it was highly contorted in shape.
