| Quick-freeze deep-etch of the contractile vacuole E-fracture face (Ecv). This face like the collecting canal membrane is porous indicating that many IMPs have been removed from this leaflet during fracturing. The microtubular ribbon (mt) seen here is composed of at least 24 microtubules and is divided into 3 sub-ribbons. Only a few IMPs (arrowheads) remain in this leaflet. EM taken on 6/22/88 by C.
