Cross fracture of the quadrulus. The basal body/cilium complexes are
a little less tightly packed than in the peniculus (top of
micrograph). There are four or five rows of parasomal sacs (ps)
interspersed with basal body rows in the quadrulus.
Clathrin-coated pits and vesicles (cop) are most abundant under
the quadrulus. The vesicles (prev) lying deeper in the cytosol
(below the level of the basal bodies) are uncoated. EM taken on
