| A tangential fracture through the cytoproct shows the absence of alveoli (al) from under the single membrane between the two rows of IMPs on the P-face of the plasma membrane (Ppm). A break in the plasma membrane also exposes the IMPs on the E-face of the outer alveolar membrane (Eoam) where these two membranes are connected. EM taken on 2/12/75 by R.
