| If the cell is exposed to HRP during trichocyst discharge the membrane remnants left behind will have acquired HRP and will exhibit an electron-opaque reaction product when incubated in DAB. In this cell breaks in the plasma membrane also occurred permitting HRP to enter the alveoli but not the general cytosol. This cell was fixed 5 min after an electric shock was given.
