Quick-freeze deep-etch image of a crystal. The contents of the
crystal have condensed into paracrystalline planes that break into
angular chunks when fractured. A portion of the P-fracture face of the
membrane has many pits where IMPs have been removed. This resembles
the P-face of the phagolysosome membrane or stage III of digestive
vacuoles (see Digestive Vacuole chapter). dic, dictyosome;
