The Golgi complex of Paramecium multimicronucleatum consists
of many elements called dictyosomes scattered in the cell. The
dictyosome in this trifluoperizine-treated cell is easily recognized
and has the usual components of a Golgi stack, a transition zone
(1) of the ER, a zone of COP-II coated transition vesicles
(2) budding from the ER and two layers (3 and 4)
of highly fenestrated cisternae presumably composed of the fused
transition vesicles. EM taken on 9/29/87 by R. Allen with Zeiss 10A
