Transverse ribbon (tr mt) starting from the anterior right side of the proximal end of a basal body (out of section plane) and crossing under the pellicle to end under the longitudinal ribbon (lo mt) in the adjacent ridge crest. Epiplasm (ep) separates the two ribbons. m, mitochondria often lie in ridges; kd, crescent end of kinetodesmal fiber; dic, dictyosome; ee, endosomal membrane. EM taken on 8/25/67 by R.
